Little Rhody Hockey Club and DMV Prospects form partnership

Press Release -

DMV Prospects has formed a partnership with Little Rhody Hockey Club, one of the top spring and summer showcase organizations in New England, DMV Prospects Owner/Operator Scott Lowe announced today. The two organizations will combine resources to provide more exposure and development opportunities for young hockey players from the DC-Maryland-Virginia region as well as other non-traditional hockey markets around the country.

The partnership will begin immediately, with the organizations working together to form teams that will compete in some of New England’s top spring and summer exposure events. Little Rhody’s standing as one of the top showcase programs in New England will allow DMV Prospects to provide exposure for more players across more age groups throughout hockey’s offseason.

In addition, DMV Prospects and Little Rhody will combine to expand both organizations' extensive networks of NCAA college, junior and prep-school coaches and scouts. This will include, but not be limited to, Little Rhody's full-season and junior affiliations with the Hitmen Hockey Club and Northeast Generals of the Tier 2 North American Hockey League.

"One of the main goals when I started DMV Prospects was to expand the opportunities for young hockey players in our area to be exposed to AAA, prep-school, junior and college hockey programs in New England," Lowe said. "I am thrilled with what we have been able to accomplish over the past three-plus years, but know that a partnership with an established, like-minded organization such as Little Rhody can allow us to do even more to help young players in the DMV achieve their hockey goals."

DMV Prospects was established in 2017 with the mission of developing, promoting and educating the elite hockey players of the DMV who are hoping to extend their careers beyond youth and high school hockey. The organization’s top priority is to ensure that local players are aware of the various potential pathways available to them and are provided with the information, opportunities and exposure they need if they hope to keep playing at higher levels beyond 18U and high school.

Little Rhody Hockey Club was established with the mission of helping serious players of any age as they strive to achieve their hockey goals. The Little Rhody Hockey experience includes game-situation and skill-based training as well as the opportunity to join premier teams and compete in the top New England showcases.

"This is an exciting time for Little Rhody Hockey Club, coming off the success we had in 2020," Little Rhody Owner/Executive Director Steve Kauffman said. "Adding someone with the character and acumen like Scott Lowe will only bolster our program's goals and philosophy, not only within our player pool but also beyond to the southeast region and even nationally. The Little Rhody Hockey Club and DMV Prospects collaboration is a home run for any of the players and families involved who are looking to further their hockey and academic futures - whether it;s at the prep, punior or college levels."

While DMV Prospects has focused primarily on providing opportunities for players ages 15 and up and entered teams in three or four big tournaments such as the Predraft Showcase, Chowder Cup and Kings of the East Coast Showcase annually, Little Rhody has fielded highly successful teams for players ages 13 through juniors and participated in additional tournaments, including the Battle of Boston and others. The partnership will allow the organizations to field co-branded teams consisting mainly of players from the DMV while also combining to bring players from both areas together to compete under the Little Rhody banner in various events.

Pooling the organizations' resources and networks also will provide more opportunities for players who are interested in playing in New England at the prep, AAA or junior levels and better overall exposure to various organizations and programs throughout that region.

Kauffman oversees the youth portion of the Little Rhody program. He has spent most of his life in and around the Rhode Island/New England hockey scene, serving for the past nine years as the general manager of the Hitmen Hockey Club while coaching the Hitmen 14U team. Kauffman has taken two of his Hitmen teams to the 14U USA Hockey National Championships.

As part of the partnership, Scott Lowe of DMV Prospects will assist Little Rhody and its various affiliates with scouting players in the DMV and other non-traditional markets while also providing communications and digital-media services. Since 2017, Lowe and DMV Prospects have assembled teams that have advanced to the playoff rounds at America's Showcase in St. Louis as well as Boston-area tournaments such as the New England Pro-Am Predraft Showcase and Chowder Cup. DMV Prospects teams also have earned victories against respected programs such as the Minnesota Blades and East Coast Kings. Lowe has helped numerous players advance to the Tier 2 junior level, the NCAA Division III level, New England prep schools, the EHL and the USPHL Premier. His summer league and training programs have welcomed more than 150 skaters, including professionals as well as NCAA Division I, II and III; Tier 1, 2 and 3 junior; prep school; AAA and AA players.
